The Nubian Discovery

Destination - Egypt: Cairo, Lake Nasser Cruise, Aswan / Abu Simbel

Duration Highlight - 10 days, 9 nights

Two nights’ accommodation in Cairo that includes a full day excursion to the most famous touristic sites of this beautiful city in Egypt. The last part of the holiday will be a 7 nights Lake Nasser cruise from Aswan to Abu Simbel and back to Aswan. You will visit the following sites in 10 days holiday: The Pyramids, Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The High Dam, Temple of Kalabsha, Beit El Wali and the Kiosk of Qertassi in Aswan. Temples of Wadi El Sebou, Dakka, Moharaqua, Amada, Derr, Tomb of Pennut, Fortress of Kasr Ibrim and Abu Simbel.

Day 1 London/Cairo
Departing London Heathrow in the afternoon for a 4hrs 30 minutes flight direct to Cairo. Arriving Cairo in the evening where you will be met by Kemetrav Tour co-ordinator, who will assist you through immigration and baggage reclaim, and transfer you o your hotel for an overnight.


Day 2 Cairo/Aswan
Wake up and breakfast. Our qualified Egyptologist/tour guide will pick you up and escort you in a full day visit to the Pyramids of Giza and the Egyptian museum . You will have lunch in a local restaurant during the day or after finishing the tour. Returning back to the hotel, and rest of the evening at leisure.
Overnight at your hotel in Cairo.


Day 3 Cairo/Luxor
Check out after breakfast, and transfer to Cairo airport to catch a short flight to Aswan.
Our field co-ordinator will meet you at the airport and take you to visit the High Dam and transfer you to your ship on Lake Nasser.
Lunch and dinner on board, and overnight aboard the ship in Aswan.


Day 4 Aswan/Wadi El Sebou
Wake up call and breakfast. Departing by motor boat to visit the site of Kalabsha. A safe spot right behind the High Dam that hosted three saved Nubian temples; Kalabsha Temple, Beit El Wali and the Kiosk of Qertassi. Back on board for lunch and enjoy the rest of the day sailing in the majestic Lake Nasser. Dinner and overnight Wadi El Sebou.


Day 5 Wadi ElSebou/Amada

After breakfast, you will depart the ship by a motor boat to visit the site of Wadi El Sebou, where you see the rescued temples of Wadi El Sebou, Dakka and Maharaqa. The three of them were dismantled into enormous blocks in the early 1960’s and moved some 20 miles away from their original venue and reconstructed here. Back on board for lunch. Set sailing to Amada, you will have rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Amada.


Day 6 Abu Simbel

Breakfast and sailing towards the fortress of Kasr Ibrim. Upon arrival, you will be having a short lecture about the site from the top deck. Due to excavations, the site is closed for visitors. Continue sailing to Abu Simbel. You are highly recommended to be on the sun deck to observe the magnificent approach to these great monuments; it is unmissable. Lunch and visit the temples of Abu Simbel. Dinner and overnight Abu Simbel.

Day 7 Abu Simbel

All day at leisure. You might have a good chance to owe this wonders another visit in the morning (check with your guide). At night, you will be lead back to the temples where you will attend a breath taking sound and light show in front of the temples. Back to the ship and overnight Abu Simbel.


Day 8 Abu Simbel/Amada

Morning at leisure and in the afternoon, you will have your last visit in the holiday to the site of Amada, which is another site in Nubia comprises three rescued monuments. It dates back to the ancient Egyptians’ most powerful epoch, the New Kingdom. The temple of Amada, Temple of Derr and the tomb of Pennut date back to the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties respectively. Back on-board and sailing to Wadi El Sebou.
Dinner and overnight Wadi El Seboua.


Day 9 Wadi El Seboua/Aswan

All day at leisure. Full day sailing to Aswan. Overnight Aswan.


Day 10 Aswan/Luxor/London

Breakfast and transfer to Aswan airport to catch your outward flight to London via Luxor.

The Price Includes:

  • Hotel in Cairo and Lake Nasser Cruise ship accommodation as mentioned below.

  • Domestic flights on Egypt Air from Cairo to Aswan and from Aswan to Luxor inclusive of all related charges and taxes.

  • Meet and assist and private transfers at each location.

  • Sightseeing as shown above including the related entrance fees.

  • Private Egyptologist/guide throughout the holiday, however, in rare cases, you might join other English speaking passengers whilst cruising, and follow the English-speaking guide provided by the ship.

The Price Excludes

  • International flights and related airport taxes.

  • Any optional excursions rather than what indicated in the itinerary above.

  • Any personal consumption; drinks, shopping or any extras not mentioned above.

  • Tipping. We will give you a guide line of who to tip and how much. This is to avoid any disappointment or embarrassment.

  • Entry Visa to Egypt.

Accommodation

Cairo: 5 stars accommodation at Pyramisa Hotel (or similar) for 2 nights on Bed and Breakfast basis plus 1 lunch on tour.
Cruise: 5 stars deluxe aboard the M/S Prince Abbas (or similar) on Lake Nasser for 7 nights on Full Board basis.
We recommend Egypt Air direct flight from London Heathrow to Cairo and the return ticket is another non-stop flight from Luxor to London Heathrow.
Minor changes might occur without affecting the program, i.e.; the sort of excursions or cruise might be slightly different due to flights, traffic or water level on the Nile or Lake Nasser.
